Dmitry Perlin

 

Dmitry V. Perlin was born on February, the 5th, 1964, in Moscow. After graduation from secondary school in 1981 he entered the Department of General Medicine of the Sechenov`s First Moscow Medical University, graduating in 1987.

Dr Perlin completed the internship training in surgery and worked as a surgeon at the department for kidney transplantation and hemodialysis of the Vladimirsky`s Moscow Research Clinical Institute (MONIKI). Since 1988 he has intensively trained in urology and kidney transplantation under the guidance one of the most famous Russian urologist M.F. Trapeznikova, a member of The Russian Medical Science Academy and head of the Department of the transplant surgery prof. P.Y. Philipcev. So he had a great success in the treatment of the  urological complications after kidney transplantation. In 1994 he was appointed senior urologist. Since that time he has worked besides MONIKI as a consult urologist in a few other well known hospital centers (Federal Research Center of Hematology, Moscow City Hospital No7 and a few other hospitals of Moscow and the central Russia region).

Dr Perlin has completed several training programs in urology, oncology, endoscopic surgery,  transplant surgery, robotic surgery in leading domestic and foreign clinics, including the Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute (the Cleveland Clinic), the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, The Charité clinic in Berlin, The Agostino Gemelli Teaching Hospital in Rome, Institute of Urology and Nephrology in Mansouras University, Urological clinic of the Koln University, hospital centers of the Regensburg, Kiel and others.

In 1998 at the age of 34 D.V. Perlin have received his PhD Degree and was invited by the most famous Russian urologist academic N.A. Lopatkin to take a position at the Federal Research Institute of Urology of the Ministry For Public Healthcare as a head of the Reconstructive Urology Department. Since that time for a 9 years prof. Perlin has worked in the Institute and has intensively developed endoscopic urology and oncologic urology. The same time he was the consult urologist in The Blokhin’s Oncological Research Center, Pirogov’s National Center of Surgery of the Ministry For Public Healthcare, Moscow City Hospital No47, Medical Center of Endoscopic Surgery & ESWL and a few others. 

Since 2007, D.V.Perlin has been the medical director of the Regional Center of Urology and Nephrology in Volgograd. During these years he has created a good surgical team. The surgical activity of the clinic has increased fivefold. Nearly all personnel of the Regional Center of Urology and Nephrology in Volgograd have completed training in the leading domestic and foreign medical institutions. Dr Perlin with his team was first in the Russian Federation developed a number of complex surgical procedures in endourology, oncourology and transplant surgery. Some of the works have evoked international interest and support. The best-known works include:

-          The first in the RF laparoscopic partial nephrectomy with local ischemia;

-          The first in the RF laparoscopic nephrectomy with trombectomy from the inferior vena cava in patients with renal cell carcinoma T3b;

-          The first in the RF retroperitoneoscopic trombectomy from the inferior vena cava with nephrectomy in patients with renal cell carcinoma in progress;

-          The first in the RF laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy;

-          The first in the RF retroperitoneoscopic live donor nephrectomy;

-          The first in the RF laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy with transvaginal extraction of the kidney;

-          The first in the RF successful autotransplantation in a patient with retroperitoneal fibrosis;

-          The largest experience in our country in reconstructive surgery of a kidney transplant including percutaneous and video-endoscopic procedures;

-          The first in the RF case of a successful surgical treatment of urinary bladder cancer in a kidney transplant patient;

-          The unique experience of extracorporeal partial nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma in patients with solitary kidney or multiple tumors;

-          The great experience in endoscopic transperitoneal and extraperitoneal surgery in prostate and kidney cancer patients.

 

In 2008 the Regional Center of Urology and Nephrology in Volgograd was one of the first to receive a license and financial support of the Ministry For Public Healthcare for a new and high-technology medical care in the urology, oncology and transplant surgery.

In 2009 a Department of Urology, Nephrology and Transplant Surgery of the Volgograd Medical University was organized on the basis of the Regional Center of Urology and Nephrology and presided by Prof. Perlin. For the next 5 years more than 700 participants have completed their training here. Dr Perlin is the author of more than 70 articles, chapters of The National Guidelines for Urology, a few manuals and handbooks in oncourology, endourology and kidney transplantation.

Dr Perlin is a member of the RF Ministry for Public Healthcare committee in urology and transplantology, full member of The European Association of Urology, board member of the Russian Society of Urology, the Russian Society of Transplantology, the Russian Society of Oncourology, the editorial board of “The Oncourology” and “The Vestnik of Transplantology and Artifical Organs” Vestnik of Urology journals.

Dr Perlin helped to develop and introduce new surgical techniques and methods in Blokhin`s Oncological Research Center, Pirogov`s National Center of Surgery, Hematological Research Center, the Regional Hospital in Tver, Emergency Medicine Hospital in Naberezhnye Chelny, the Regional Hospital of Kirov, Emergency Medicine Hospital in Yaroslavl, the Regional Hospital in Ryazan, the Regional Cancer Center in Belgorod, the National Medical Center of the Republic of Sakha, The State Medical University in Saratov, the Regional Center of Oncology in Irkutsk, Center of Urology and Robotic Surgery in Tymen and other clinics.
